FAQ

Q: When do you open?

A: October 1, 2026

Q: I've never heard of you. Shouldn't I stick with the shops I know?

A: I know what you're thinking: It doesn't sound like you've been doing this very long. Why would I want to bring my machine to you?

And my answer is, well, you might not! If you need something done really quickly then I might not be your best choice. This is a new business, and I also have another part time job, so it might take me a little time to get to you. That being said, I am passionate about keeping sewing machines out of the landfill and will do everything I can to keep yours running for as long as possible.

Q: Um, you don't have a store. How does this work?

A: I am a mobile business, so we have a few options.

1) We can meet in an agreed upon place, and after filling out a form and chatting about your machine I'll take it home, service it, and meet you again when it's finished.

2) I can pick it up, and return it to, your house.

3) Under special circumstances (such as treadle machines) I'll consider working on the machine in your home. Contact me and let's see what we can work out.

Q: Does it cost anything to have you come to my house?

A: Not right now. In the future I will probably have to charge a small fee though.

Q: Your prices seem a bit low.

A: That wasn't actually a question, but I get what you mean. I'm keeping my prices low for now to compensate for my slightly slower turnaround times and because I lack the experience of the big shops.

Q: Are you going to "quote" me a price and then secretly charge me all kind of hidden fees?

A: No way. Tune Ups have a base price and if the machine really needs it I may add a $15 chemical clean fee. Other than that, I won't add on so much as a dime without asking you first. If I discover a broken part or an extensive repair I'll let you know if I'm able to fix it and what it will cost. If you agree, I'll proceed. And if I can't fix it, I'll let you know. (If the machine is in for a Tune Up, you will still pay that fee whether or not I continue with a repair. If the machine is brought in for a repair, I require a $25 bench fee that can be put towards the repair costs. If I can't fix the issue, I will return your machine but the bench fee does not get refunded.

Q: You haven't been open long enough to have "frequently asked" questions. Did you just make these up?

A: Yes. yes I did.
